It allows students to discover many <strong>fundamental concepts<\/strong> :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>there <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.vittascience.com\/en\/avantage-apprentissage-programmation\/\">programming<\/a><\/strong> (often in Python),<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>L&#039;<strong>algorithmic<\/strong> and logic,<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>THE <strong>data structures<\/strong> (lists, trees, piles),<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>THE <strong>computer systems<\/strong>,<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the hardware and software architecture of a computer,<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the functioning of <strong>networks<\/strong> and the Internet,<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>databases and information modeling,<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the resolution of <strong>problems<\/strong> concrete projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These concepts are an integral part of the <strong>official program<\/strong> of NSI and are worked on using <strong>course<\/strong>exercises, tutorials, practical sessions, interdisciplinary projects and sometimes<strong>practical tests<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NSI specialization doesn&#039;t just teach you how to code: it aims to understand <strong>Why<\/strong> The technologies work, how data flows, and how systems are designed. For many students, choosing the NSI (Digital Sciences and Technology) specialization in high school is ideal preparation for the baccalaureate exam, but also for their future studies. <strong>higher education<\/strong> in computer science, science, engineering, mathematics or digital technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NSI (Digital Sciences and Technology) specialization opens up numerous career opportunities, whether through preparatory classes, a two-year technical degree (BUT\/BTS), a bachelor&#039;s degree, or an engineering school, and provides access to careers in computer science, cybersecurity, development, or systems and networks. To learn more: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.letudiant.fr\/lycee\/specialites-bac-general\/article\/orientation-post-bac-que-faire-apres-la-specialite-nsi.html\">https:\/\/www.letudiant.fr\/lycee\/specialites-bac-general\/article\/orientation-post-bac-que-faire-apres-la-specialite-nsi.html<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>A specialty championed by passionate teachers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Behind the success of the NSI specialty are teachers, sometimes mathematics, physics-chemistry or technology teachers, who have chosen to broaden their skills to teach computer science in high school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We spoke with two NSI teachers with different backgrounds but driven by the same passion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of them, a teacher since 1995, went back to school to study computer science and obtain a master&#039;s degree, and now teaches today. <strong>exclusively computer science<\/strong> : Digital Science and Technology (SNT), Computer Science and algorithms. To promote autonomy, he designed his own educational resources: <strong>lectures, exercises, practical work<\/strong>PDF files, answer keys, and a website compiling all the concepts of the curriculum. He also established a highly valued learning routine: <strong>\u201cToday\u2019s code\u201d<\/strong>a short algorithmic exercise to start each class, supported by its web app <strong>Exopy<\/strong>designed for both high school and middle school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For his part, <strong>Fabien Roca<\/strong>A former Physics and Chemistry teacher turned NSI specialist, he recounts a passion that began very early, from the MO5 computers of his primary school to the first Turbo Pascal programs. Self-taught and later formally trained at university, he contributes to an academic circle dedicated to the NSI specialization. Therefore, in their classes, they work regularly through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>of the <strong>TP<\/strong> problem-solving oriented,<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>of the <strong>long-term projects<\/strong>, often interdisciplinary,<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>of the <strong>algorithmic challenges<\/strong>,<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>national competitions: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuitducode.net\/\">Night of the Code<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuitdelinfo.com\/\">Night of Information<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.education.gouv.fr\/passe-ton-hack-d-abord-le-plus-grand-challenge-cyber-de-france-va-plonger-les-lyceennes-et-lyceens-416207\">Pass your hack first<\/a><\/strong>,<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>practical activities in FabLab and web projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heterogeneity is one of the major challenges of the NSI specialization. Some students arrive with extensive experience in Python or algorithms, while others are discovering the basics of computer science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To address this, Fabien Roca proposes... <strong>additional challenges<\/strong>From more complex problems or advanced algorithms to those who progress quickly. This approach helps maintain engagement, encourages digital creativity, and introduces concepts outside the curriculum that enrich the learning experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>The issue of diversity: a major challenge for the NSI specialization<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The two teachers interviewed made the same observation: the <strong>diversity in the NSI specialty<\/strong> remains a challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, one of them had a final year class composed of <strong>50 % girls<\/strong>However, by 2025, it no longer has any.<br>Fabien Roca, for his part, had a year with <strong>25 boys<\/strong> and no girls in NSI, even though his school now has 23 girls in Premi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to them, several obstacles remain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>deeply ingrained stereotypes (&quot;IT is a guy thing&quot;),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a lack of exposure to creative activities,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an image still too often associated with the \u201cgeek\u201d or the gamer,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the disappearance of teachings such as <strong>ICN<\/strong> (Computer Science and Digital Creation), which attracted more girls.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To take action, Fabien created <a href=\"https:\/\/numerigirls.lyceemaillolperpignan.fr\/\"><strong>NumeriGirls<\/strong><\/a>A day that brings together female digital professionals, offering workshops, challenges, career presentations, and hands-on activities. An inspiring model to encourage girls from middle school to high school to choose the NSI (Digital Sciences and Technology) specialization and to pursue scientific studies. The second edition of the event will be held on March 12, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>Teachers who are also innovating thanks to digital technology<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While some teachers create their own teaching tools, many also use platforms like <a href=\"http:\/\/vittascience.com\"><strong>Vittascience<\/strong><\/a>, cited by both testimonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For one, Vittascience is a useful resource for colleagues who do not have time to develop their own environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>For the other teacher, the platform is used in several contexts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Python activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.vittascience.com\/en\/intelligences-artificielles-types-et-usages\/\">AI<\/a> in SNT (image and text analysis),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>web projects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introduction to robotics,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>managing heterogeneity in autonomous activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A prime example is the project <strong>\u201c<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fabriquedu.org\/+mobilab-66\/2025-mission-tresor-robots\"><strong>Treasure Mission &amp; Robots<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u201c<\/strong>This project, conceived by Fabien&#039;s students during their third week of the NSI (Digital Sciences and Technology) specialization, is intended for first and fifth grade classes. It&#039;s a great illustration of what high school students can achieve when given real digital projects with the aim of passing on this interest in digital technology and computer science to younger generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:28px\"><strong>A constantly evolving NSI specialty<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The teachers interviewed believe that the NSI specialty program must continue to evolve to keep pace with current digital technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The official SNT program needs to be updated (it dates from 2019).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The concepts of AI and cybersecurity need to be given more prominence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The links between NSI and the requirements of the superior must be strengthened.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the creation of a <strong>supplementary NSI (Digital Sciences and Technology) instruction in the final year of high school<\/strong> would be beneficial for students wishing to continue studying computer science after the first year of high school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also emphasize the importance of increasing the <strong>key moments<\/strong> Competitions, outings, challenges, practical projects, workshops, project reports, interdisciplinary activities. These skills are fundamental, whether students pursue them in mathematics, computer science, technology, engineering, or science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the testimonies gathered, one conviction emerges:<br><strong>The NSI specialty is not just a scientific subject.
